I haven’t purchased an iPhone 4 for two reasons.

1. 24 month contract

2. The antenna issue.

I don’t want to commit to a 24 month contract when apple will almost be refreshing again next summer and why would I want to purchase a expensive phone which may be faulty from the go?

So it looks like I may well jump this generation, because of these two issues I will be looking with some interest at Windows Phone 7 when it releases around October time.

Time will tell.

My wife and I wanted to purchase The Vampires Diaries, Sesason1 which has just finished airing here in the UK. So took a look on the internet and this is what I found. The blue ray version is £8 more expensive than that of iTunes. I tunes is £29.99 which is pretty good in my opinion and you get the SD edition included in that as well, for playing on your iPhone.

Also it’s available now on iTunes where as with Blu-Ray we would have to wait until August. I’m pleasantly surprised. It’s good as well using iTunes Home Share this content can be shared on up to 5 home computers. Oh and I don’t own a Blu-Ray Player either…. so it saved on that cost. The biggest down side I can see is the DRM…..

If you have created a A record called remote (for example) on your domain name to make it easier for users to access RWW (remote web workplace) from home, you will notice of course that this doesn’t work internally. This can cause issues with Exchange Active Sync devices that you may have configured to connect to the the server using remote.domain.com and this works great when external from the internal network. It doesn’t work when the device is within the network the and connected via Wi-Fi.

Also this can become difficult when configuring OWA (Outlook Anywhere) for Outlook. As the domain and the certificate has to match you can’t install the certificate because the domain doesn’t match internally if your using http://servername/. This resolves that issue and keeps things generally orderly.

Oh, this video actually features me. Sorry about the erms and pauses. Hopeful the more of these I do the better I will get.

I haven’t blogged for a few weeks, so I thought I would today. You may noticed the addition of Google Ads on the left hand side. Sorry guys, I have to fund this site some how.

This is my first post using the new Windows Live Writer, looks nice with the ribbon.

I did purchase and iPad in the end. I like it, I’m note sure it’s worth the money, but the build quality is really good. It’s great for use in front of the TV causal browsing and a god sense for reading in bed. I’m trying to read 1984, read the first chapter but it hasn’t gripped me as of yet.

Since installing OS X into Virtual Box it appears that Mac Mail only supports Exchange connectivity for 2007 and above, which is rather annoying.

I’m working on a few things at the minute and will try and post more. Until next time.

I was getting a lot of these errors in the system event log on one of the servers we maintain.

This thread put me on the right track to resolving the problem, http://www.daniweb.com/forums/thread39730.html

1. Go to Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Component Services

2. Expand the Component Services > Computers > My Computer > DCOM Config (I received an error at this point, I clicked no)

3. I then change the view to details which displayed the Application ID. I went thru until I found the application id that matched that in the event viewer.

4. Click on the Identity Tab. On that tab there is a "This user:" radio button which contains the username and password that my Component is using. Simply change the user login information, you may have to restart the machine.

Hope it helps

UPDATE: Corrected a view typo’s.

Before reading on, please see this post first http://ramberlinggeek.co.uk/2010/01/ipad/

Ok, welcome back. I’ve had a change of heart or I’ve been sucked into Steve Job’s reality distortion field.

The problem is, I love my iPhone. The thought of having a bigger iPhone to use whilst sitting in the living room appeals to me because using my laptop I end up getting very uncomfortable and if I should/need to be doing real work then, I should be in my study.

in that the iPad will fit the causal usage perfect as my iPhone does now, thus the thought of the bigger screen and the 10 hours battery time apply so much. The problem for HP’s slate is that it going to have approx 5+ hours of battery time and it’s going to be running a full version of Windows 7. I think that’s were the issue lies, Windows 7 is designed for slate use and the iPad is because it’s based on the iPhone OS and with the forth coming version of iPhone 4.0 and multitasking will be enabled, which removes one of the drawbacks, but most techie people don’t care about multitasking any how.

Anyhow, it looks like I’m going to end up buying one…
